It only depends upon the family, income and amount of space the family needs to comfortably raise a child. There have been families that have successfully raised eight kids in a three-bedroom, 1500 square foot house. There were families that have raised one or 2 children in a mansion-like home. Sometimes it does rely upon the parental units, but mostly, it is dependent upon the environment and the idiosyncrasies of each child and parent residing in the same home.
